Minimally Invasive Bunion Surgery
Contact UsFor some people, bunions are not painful and can be kept under control by wearing proper shoes. However, others are not so lucky and can experience a lot of pain. In these cases, surgical treatment might be necessary. As SOFLLEX, we perform minimally invasive bunion surgery so you can get much-needed relief.
What is a Bunion?
When some of your bones shift out of place, it can lead to a bony bump forming at the base of your big toe. Your big toe will also be pulled inward toward the rest, making walking and wearing shoes painful and difficult.
Typical causes of bunions include:
- Repeated stress on the foot
- Arthritis
- Tight shoes
Symptoms of Bunions
- Large bump on the outside of your foot below the big toe
- Big toe pointing inward
- Swelling or redness
- Pain
- Calluses
- Joint stiffness
Treatment for Bunions
Before we try minimally invasive surgery for your bunion, we might first try a more conservative treatment such as shoe inserts, ice, or bunion pads. If none of these seem to work or the problem worsens, surgery is the next step. During a bunionectomy, we will use small incisions to correct the deformity.
While we don’t recommend surgery for simple cosmetic reasons, it can provide relief for those experiencing pain.
